For most people, summer and time at the beach are synonymous of each other.
When I call upon my fondest summer beach memories, an image of the Catalan capital pops into my mind, pulling my cheeks backwards and drawing the deepest smile on my lips.
Ah that Barcelona beach lifestyle…
Whatever could float your boat on the Mediterranean, there is probably a lovely stretch of warm sand by the city that offers it. Whether it’s hanging with the cool kids at popular La Barceloneta, quality time with family further north at the more relaxed Nova Icaria, staying active and bouncing few volleyballs around at Mar Bella, your beach wishes are Barcelona’s demands.
I am not the hyperactive type, and might as well just put it out there, I can’t really swim. Hence, my favorite Barcelona beach activity is actually feasting on some fresh and delicious seafood at one of the many trendy Chringuitos (seaside huts) in the area.
Follow that with some serious people watching – little umbrella drink in hand, then end the day with a leisurely sunset stroll while admiring the gracious silhouettes of lofty palm trees against a golden sunset, and trust me, beach life doesn’t get much better than that…
I can probably go on for a while on the subject, but thought it is better to show you.
